What Are the Different Types of Codes and How Do They Work?

The keys are usually bought from a dealer or cloned by locksmiths. The method of programming the key is different for each manufacturer and involves turning the key to the off position, without triggering the engine, and then taking it off it after a specific time period.

Transponder Codes



The name implies that a transponder sends out an encoded signal that contains the four-digit code when it is interrogated by air traffic control. This signal, called a SQUAWK Code is used to locate aircraft on radar screens. It can also be used to transmit specific messages to the air traffic control system in the event of an emergency or to notify controllers of changing weather conditions.
